गणतंत्र दिवस

The Earth is the potential of this country, we live near the crust

75 years of a lawful life? Then why does it feel like the first?

The patriotism in the air right now isn’t consistent, I’ve only seen it in outbursts,

As of right now, not God, not Law, but in Money we trust.

“Bharat Mata ki Jai!” we proclaim,

But right now, it isn’t an emotion, just a country we name.

Not paying taxes, the country’s economy we maim,

How is this success? When not a dime belongs to every dame.

Visionaries, they call us. The country’s future you are.

What country I ask, my eyes can’t see that far.

This poem might incite you, but until how far?

Please don’t reply, you tend to forget who you are.

The change begins with us, right here,

Hold your country as not an option, but something dear.

“अधर्म, लालच, इच्छा” they should be made so mere,

That every small girl should be able to walk on the streets, devoid of fear.

The rich heritage of ours, I can’t explain,

in these limited lines I’ve been asked to refrain.

But I urge you, to remember the sacrifice and the pain,

Of our ancestors so great, still influencing our lives again and again.

Let's once again, keep our hand near our heart,

Reinstate our pledge United, our differences apart,

Remember this message, as we depart,

A whole is formed with the culmination of many a part.

We, the people of India, once more,

Solemnly resolve, that our country we shall restore.

We shall keep the external influences, outside the door,

And ensure that this time, it isn’t an outburst, but an uproar.
